SunPower Corp to build seven solar power plants in Italy

Solar technology company SunPower Corp (Nasdaq: SPWRA | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating) (Nasdaq: SPWRB | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating)said on Wednesday that it has entered into an agreement to build sevensolar photovoltaic (PV) power plants totalling 16.5 megawatts in theSicily region of Italy.

This agreement has been signed with Sol.In.Build Srl, a majority ownedsubsidiary of Italian renewable energy company Veronagest SpA.Financial terms were not disclosed.

The seven new plants, located on a combined total of 63 hectares, willrange in size from one to 3.5 megawatts. they will be built in theSicilian municipalities of Cerami, Licata, Caltanissetta, Calamonaci,Mussomeli and Cammarata and will be completed by September 2010.

Under the deal SunPower will install SunPower panels on fixed-tiltsystem technology and SunPower T0 Tracker systems at all of theSol.In.Build sites.
