For the RecordChildren ran, leapt and celebrated during the Nassau County Special Olympics Feb. 26.Banner winners were first place, Fernandina Beach Middle School, second place, Yulee High School and third place, Yulee Elementary School. the Nassau County Association of Realtors received the volunteer award.Kerri Sheffield won the pentathlon, which includes the 400 and 100 meter runs, running long jump, high jump and shotput.Other Special Olympics event results were:25-meter walk: female first place, Makaila Maddox, Sarah Stoner and Trinity Hoblit; second place, Carrie Wilson, Hannah Gagnon and Kaitlyn Anderson.Male first place, Zachary Landers, Logan Parker, Jason Washington, Adam Murphy and Conner Davis; second place, Richie Jordan, Randy Aytes and William Holmes; and third place, DeMontay Simmons.50-meter walk: female first place, Cassie Bryant and Christina Trampler; second place, Holly Nelson.
