The Pocono Amateur Radio Klub will be offering classes in Morse Code, if sufficient interest is shown. The instruction will emphasize reading and copying the code and practical use thereof; not just learning the alphabet. Shawnee Searches for Resort Artifacts: The Shawnee Inn and Golf Resort is in search of any Shawnee artifacts the community may have for its centennial celebration in 2011. The resort first opened to guests in 1911, originally called The Buckwood Inn. Shawnee’s Centennial committee hopes to create a museum of artifacts from the past hundred years and is seeking both tangible memorabilia, along with “remember when” stories. PEEC’s lodging rates for three-day weekends are $134 for PEEC members and $145 for nonmembers. Three-day weekend non-lodging rates are $74 for members and $85 for non-members. The lodging rates for PEEC’s four-day family nature getaways are $160 for members and $175 for non-members. Non-lodging rates for PEEC’s four-day weekends are $100 for members and $115 for non-members. Rates are per person, and discounts are available for children ages 10 years and under. Pre-registration is required.
Families can also choose to spend the day at PEEC on Saturdays during family nature weekends from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. for $35 per person for PEEC members and $45 for non-members and enjoy the daytime activities with other family weekend participants.
